Zest Magazine

This was one of my favorite projects I completed in my time in college studying Graphic Communication. The goal was to design and curate eight pages of a fictional magazine that follows a theme and relates to a specific target audience.

This project began with choosing a name, theme, and target audience the magazine. I chose Zest — Explore California, as a outdoors lifestyle magazine targeting people in their late 20s to 30s who enjoy exploring the world around them. This issue of the magazine was “The Yosemite Edition.” A total of eight pages were designed — the front cover, masthead, table of contents, a left and right editorial page, a two page feature spread, and a back page ad. Each page went through two rounds of critiques from class peers. Throughout the course of the class and critiques, the magazine went through many iterations before arriving at its final design.
